Today marks the sixty-fifth anniversary of the murder of Elizabeth Short.
Above is one of a series of last known photos taken of Elizabeth Short prior to her murder. Elizabeth is seen sitting on the steps off John Marshall High School,in Hollywood. Photo was taken in October, 1946.
John Marshall High School is located in the Los Feliz District of Hollywood, just 1.5 miles east of Dr. Hodel’s 1946 Franklin House (A).

Steve, Do you think Dr. Hodel took this picture?
Ryan: No photo not taken by George Hodel. It was taken by a young man who met Eliz in Hollywood and offered to take her picture. They just spent one day together. After her murder he went to the police and turned over his photos. He was not a suspect. I cover this and show the additional photos in my updated version of BDA. (HarperCollins 2006)
That picture reminds me of someone full of life, but regrettably the 65th Anniversary marks an untimely death.
I continue to appreciate your investigative work on the behalf of victims, and know it was difficult for you to find out your father was the murderer.
