Twenty-three Years in Print-Published Works, 2003–2026

Birch Bay, Washington

My friend and fellow author, Robert Sadler has just completed this visual retrospective of my published works, beginning with Black Dahlia Avenger in 2003 and continuing through my four books published this year.

Looking at these covers together brings back more than two decades of investigation, writing, and personal discovery. Included are foreign editions, my three-act play A Genius for Murder, and two family works: my father George Hill Hodel’s The China Letter and my mother Dorothy Hodel’s, short story America Is.

The four new 2026 titles are:

  • As Within, So Without: Man Ray, Surrealism and the Secrets Behind the Black Dahlia Murder
  • A Life Remembered
  • The Black Dahlia Murder: Fact vs. Fiction
  • The Zodiac Murders: Fact vs. Fiction

With these latest books, I believe I have reached the end of my book-writing journey. The research and writings remain available, and I will continue sharing observations and updates here on the blog.

My thanks to Robert for bringing this collection together—and to my readers for accompanying me along the way.

Most Sincerely,
Steve Hodel
