BuzzFeed "The Chilling Mystery of the Black Dahlia" 8-Minute Video

Below BuzzFeed video with “Ryan and Brent” went live yesterday and has had nearly 500K viewers just overnight. Wow! Light hearted, tongue in cheek, but also fairly factual, with a few errors, but that’s showbiz.

Update May 8, 2016:

Here is a five-minute clip from CBS 48-Hours which originally aired in November 2004 in which CBS correspondent Erin Moriarty interviews then Head DDA Stephen Kay and DA Investigator Walter Morgan regarding their thoughts on an LAPD/DA “coverup.”

I think the whimsical nature of the presentation comes from the fact that all this investigation info is available yet the LAPD won’t touch the city’s most famous crime. You’ve pretty much given us the reasons but those who haven’t read your books are left to wonder, what more do they need besides the answers to put this case to bed?

I continue to be amazed by the tie-ins that link the BDA and Zodiac cases together two decades apart.

Hi John: The whimsical nature is basically their show’s production style/format which sort of takes after the old film critics, Siskel and Ebert, point/counter-point mixing some humor in with some factual and not going too deep. Yes, it’s all there in my books pretty much, but the reader has to be willing to invest the time to read all four books to get “The Big Picture” and see how it all comes together. All my best, Steve

These guys are super annoying. There are some things in life that should be handled without mirth and titillation.

I’m gonna go ahead and say torture and serial murder with a heaping dose of police corruption qualifies for complete seriousness.

Regardless of the passage of time.
