Thanksgiving Day Wishes
I want to take time this Thanksgiving Day, 2023 to express my sincere THANKS to you, my readers.
To all of you who have assisted, supported, and encouraged me through the past two-plus decades.
This coming May 2024, just six months from today, will mark the 25th year of my ongoing criminal investigations into the serial crimes of my father, Dr. George Hill Hodel.
My investigation began with his death in 1999 and my half-sister, Tamar’s startling revelation, “You know Steve, our father was a suspect in the Black Dahlia Murder. The LAPD detectives that transported me to court during the incest trial in 1950, told me they thought he killed her.”
As most of you know, my investigation back then began with my determination to show that our father had nothing to do with the crime and to prove his innocence, and to remove any suspicion.
The above nine books are all really just one ongoing Homicide Progress Report summarizing my findings.
They document his serial crimes starting as a teen in 1921 and present the linkage and evidence connecting him to fifty horrific crimes in fifty years. While most were committed in California I did discover and present strong evidence connecting him to murders I believe he committed in Texas, Louisiana, Illinois, Mexico, and Manila, Philippines.
It has been an exceptionally long investigation in which I have passed from middle to old age.
In my previous publications, I have personally acknowledged and thanked the many individuals who have helped me as my very real “partners” along the way. They have collectively, added critical missing puzzle pieces to the now massive amount of evidence that has taken us way beyond the “reasonable doubt” criteria required to find George Hill Hodel guilty.
With the latest publication of Black Dahlia Avenger IV this month, in print, ebook, and audiobook, I believe I can personally acknowledge to myself-“CASE CLOSED.” This final book, while classified as “historical fiction” is really a hybrid. In a Midnight Trial by the Quick and the Dead, it presents most of the factual evidence that existed and was found and presented piecemeal in the eight previous books relating to the Black Dahlia and L.A. Lone Woman Murders, along with new evidence and the testimony and voices of many of the original 1947 -1950 witnesses and victims.
BDA IV, as a work of “fiction” is really my way of removing the “Justice Denied” and presenting it as “Justice Delayed.” It is the criminal trial that should have been but never was.
I will close by once again, giving THANKS to all of you on this Thanksgiving Day, 2023.
May each of you and your family members enjoy this holiday and recognize the personal thankfulness that reaches us on this special day.

Some believe there are no such things as coincidences. Here I sit on break at work on Thanksgiving Day, 2023. I circled back to the Black Dhalia case today and lo and behold you put out a message to the public as well. In any event, I would like to personally thank you for the time and work you put in to finally prove the George Hodel was the killer.
It is disconcerting that the L.APD is not cooperating in the cold case. I’ve contacted you before in the past via email, I wish I could meet you in person so you can autograph one of your books. I reside in Arizona and figured I would pop over to California but I see you moved to Washington.
I respect you immensely.
Now if we could identify who Jack the Ripper was, perhaps I can rest. Of course, that’s a separate issue.

Dear Mr. Hodel, I recently finished your Black Dahlia Avenger, and I must congratulate on your tenacity, honesty, and talent in completing such a magnum opus. However, my principal reason for writing is one of desperation. As a fellow resident of Washington state, I live over by Cle Elum, I have long been interested in the JFK assassination which I vividly remember as a boy. For the past forty years I’ve read every book I could on the subject, most of which are re-treads or nonsense. However, this past Saturday, in honor of the 60-th anniversary of the President’s death, I visited Dealey Plaza in Dallas for the first time. I immediately noticed something no-one else ever has. Actually, that’s not unusual, as I have an unusual way of looking at life (I’m an inventor). Anyway since Saturday I put together a very short concise video about what I found… but being I”m about as big a NOBODY as has ever existed, I can’t get anyone to pay attention to the physics and geometry, and LOCATION everyone else has overlooked. I need someone with an objective mind and some GRAVITAS – that being you sir – to help me. Would you consider watching my video? It’s on both vimeo and Youtube, eighteen minutes long, and has new PHYSICAL information in terms of the weapon’s hiding place which I think you may find most interesting. Another JFK assassination veteran researcher writing from Port Angeles in WA. I will check out CB’s video also. I’ve found thoughtprints in the Dealey Plaza film record and will soon have some articles printed and of course it’s a book.
I’ve compiled all your books so I can rapid – find material in the PDFs, after buying them all on Kindle. This new IV I will postpone reading or never finish my articles. I did notice, since I have both 1st and 2nd editions of COLD CASE HOMICIDES, and find it odd. Your MO-Thoughtprints material was notable and apropos in the 1st edition but left out of the 2nd which is over 1200 pages where the first was under 700. Guess I should write to Walton and complain about the omission.
As another cinephile I want to especially praise your diligent tracing of thought-prints in rediscovering CHARLIE CHAN at T.I. and MOST DANGEROUS GAME. Thought I’d add CRIME AND PUNISHMENT by Dostoyevsky,, where Peter Lorre, after Fritz Lang’s M in 1930 or so went on, somewhat typecast, to star in the 1935 US production of the novel, also with the great Edward Arnold. I’m sure the novel has a lot more to say but I’m not about to start skimming it tonight! About 44 minutes into the film Raskolnikov exclaims in a family scene, as only Lorre could say it, ” Take what you want! Plan it, cheat, bluff, take life by the throat!”

Yes, the film, “M” was very on point with GHH as relates to his child murders back then. Inspiration of sorts for sure. Haven’t seen Lorre in Crime and Punishment, but will check it out for sure. Yes, BDA IV, my first “historical fiction” can wait until you have had a chance to read the earlier true-crime books. The books are really just one ongoing homicide investigation.
