Black Dahlia Avenger – Case Closed:2025 Update
October 21, 2025 — Mark the date.
Twenty-two years ago, I released Black Dahlia Avenger, presenting evidence that my father, Dr. George Hill Hodel, was the killer of Elizabeth Short. That first book sparked a firestorm of debate — hailed as “thoroughly and completely convincing” by Michael Connelly, reviewed as a bestseller in the New York Times, dissected on television, lectured at Paris France’s, Pompidou Center and discussed worldwide.
But the story didn’t stop in 2003.
For more than two decades, new evidence has surfaced: LA DA Secret Hodel Taped Sureveillance Files, LAPD case documents unearthed, hidden eyewitness accounts, and forensic revelations that sharpen the picture beyond doubt. Today, I can say with confidence that this new Closed-Case Definitive Edition delivers the most complete and unassailable account of the Black Dahlia murder ever published.

Case Closed — In Their Words
“The Black Dahlia case is solved.” — Los Angeles County Head Deputy DA Stephen Kay
Why This Edition Matters
The Black Dahlia murder has haunted Los Angeles for nearly 80 years. But justice delayed is not always justice denied. This new edition doesn’t just revisit old ground — it closes the case by bringing forward evidence long hidden, now made accessible and undeniable.
As a former LAPD homicide detective, I don’t deal in “theories.” I deal in evidence. And the evidence proves this case solved.

Congratulations. I have shared my old version so much that I forget where it went. 🙂 I look forward to seeing the new material. I have been changed. I now look at Hollywood in a different way.
Paul B:
As to I.
Thanks and best to you and yours.
Steve
Congratulations on a job well and truly done.
Of course, the tin-foil hat brigade will continue to spew out their nonsense, but we, who are your faithful followers, know better.
I read the first book a year after it came out (I apologize for being a late-comer) and was convinced that you have solved the case. As subsequent books came out and you amassed much more evidence, the case became more iron-clad and sound.
Given the preponderance of evidence in your books, I would guess that had GHH been put on trial, he would have been convicted on at least two counts, if not all seven Lipstick Murders.
Your hard work has paid off. Now let’s see this book get to NYT best-sellerdom!
Ron R:
Thanks Ron. Much appreciated. Yes your are right the tin-hatters, and the “I hope this case is never solveds” and the “no-no, Dr. B….. did itsers” will never change. But, I have been blessed with so many loyal readers like you, that I am more than rewarded with those that “get it.” Doubt, we will see many “nerw reviews” on book that is updated, but you never know. Still trying to make the series or movie happen, but Hollywood is such a ficle Bit**, six years and counting. Best to you and yours. Steve
I can’t wait to revist the case in one complete package. Pre-ordered.
