George Hodel’s Newly Discovered Handwritten Note Compared To Killer’s Lipstick Handwriting On 1947 Jeanne French Nude Body

In reviewing some books on my bookshelf that had been gather dust for over the past twenty years I came across the book, “On Listening” by UCLA Professor Carl Faber. I opened it and out fell a note from my father, Dr. George Hill Hodel.
Apparently, I had loaned him the book back in the Nineties, and he was returning it with a note to me and signed it “Love! Dad”.
Fast forward to 2001 and I’m in full investigative mode on my Black Dahlia and other Lone Woman investigations and had by then had multiple handwriting samples of my father compared by a Questioned Document Expert, Hannah McFarland. Hannah as presented in my book, Black Dahlia Avenger, had positively ID’d multiple writings by my father to known notes/letters written by the “Black Dahlia Avenger” which he had sent to the press.
Included in these handwriting comparisons was the crime scene photograph of 1947 victim Jeanne French. Her nude body posed on a vacant LA lot showing that her killer had written in lipstick, “Fuck You, B.D. (Black Dahlia)
As published in BDA in 2003, her forensics identified the writing on the body as that of Dr. George Hill Hodel. (To date, no expert has contradicted her analysis saying it IS NOT his writing.) This newly found sample is the best one I’ve seen showing his “D” in comparison with the “D” on her body.

Steve, The “overhangs” on the D (both D’s) say it all👍! But most telling to me is the simple fact that a son seeing his dad’s handwriting recognizes it immediately with an instinct that is so strong between parent & child. The very denials of so many many clues & factual evidence presented over the years have been casually shoved aside by numerous law enforcement agencies with “too busy to investigate at this time” says it all! The “Oh well” approach as I recently read some of Martin Lee’s (SFPD) comments on Zodiac, jumped out at me and I immediately pictured a scenario & people involved ( too much to write about here) of why SF & LA want the Zodiac to slip into the genre ala Jack the Ripper…..great fodder for tv movies etc. The refusal to test the DNA you have in your possession is a real thorn in their sides Steve, & they wish you would just go away! But you’re not going to do that……keep that bit between your teeth & finish with a bang!! 👍😎🌵j

I am always amazed at you and many other readers who know and recall subtle points that even I have forgotten. Much appreciated. As far as “finishing with a bang” no worries there. The Early Years is just a week away from coming out and I’ve loaded it with two silver bullets (two separate editions) that should do the trick. (Never knew I’d be in the werewolf hunting business.) Hopefully, when fired they will do the trick.
Have been checking Amazon, Barnes & Noble for pre-publication notices for pre-orders but nothing as yet. I do want either the hard cover or paprback for our library (all military, aviation, true crime!) but no advance notices as Yet. Looking forward to it, Steve! 🤗🌵

I know, I’m self/pub the two books myself so as to be able to keep all the graphics in both books. (Any of the Big Five would want to eliminate half of them and I’m not going to allow that as they are needed to tell the whole of it.) So, they will be available as paperbacks both over 400 pages on my birthday. I want readers to be able to have the opportunity to buy both books on my birthday, Nov. 6th which is when I will announce it’s release. I expect to eventually do them in hardback and Ebooks, but for the immediate they will be available as paperbacks.

What is the statistical significance of the uniqueness of a given handwriting sample? What is the likelihood two or more people can share the same handwriting peculiarities?
I don’t think it takes a hand writing examiner to see that really really similar. To the point of glaringly obvious. Yeah. At this point anyone denying that Dr George h Hodel was the murderer of Jean French and Betty Short, their simply not examining the evidence or they have some grudge or pet theory their pushing. Somethings stoping them from seeing the obvious,either greed or grudge.
So the early yrs comes out on the 6th. Right on Detective Hodel! Congratulations I’m headed to Amazon to hunt for them now.
