Back in February 2021, I published teenager  Morgan Rowan’s horrific assault/rape by Rodney Alcala which established her as the first known/identified victim. Her crime preceded that of Tali Shapiro by just a few weeks and occurred at the same location, his Hollywood residence apartment on DeLongpre Ave.

CLICK HERE for Morgan’s full telling of that crime as presented back in February 2021.
Thanks to reporter Richard’s for assisting in making public yet another Alcala victim. While Morgan is now the “first known” my detective’s nose tells me there were in fact earlier crimes. Perhaps some victims that never lived to tell their stories.  May all of Alcala’s victims Rest in Peace while he hopefully Slow Rots in Hell.

Steve, the assault & rape of Rowan Morgan occurred the year my oldest daughter Marie was born, the youngest, Grace born in ‘71….and not a day goes by in my advanced years that I am so thankful they are alive & well!! My 2 granddaughters at 27 & 15 have heard all my warnings, cautions etc. and the worry goes on! The worries over my eldest, Joe and 5 grandsons were/are there but different…guns, drugs, wars😓. Perhaps I speak naively but how did we become so fearful, distrustful of our safety with men? Not only of their strength over us but the fear of desertions, betrayals. Where did our society go astray? I think it needs addressing in our culture & education. Don’t imagine I will know the answers in my lifetime but do know a bottom line must be found to begin laying the foundation for trust/understanding between the sexes! OMG…a little 🥂& I’m on my soapbox….time to start dinner🤣!

Yes, so many predators out there. Maybe having Rowan share her story just might, just might, save some young girl who has that dime in her shoe and actually does call home. That was Rowan’s sole intent in sharing her story. Could happen.

Lots of respect for the people who investigate and deal with those evil scum.

I can understand how young girls could be duped and manipulated by someone such as Acala. Personally I would have spotted a piece of garbage at first glance. I may not have realized how much of a piece of garbage but people like him definitely trigger my suspicions. Too bad the truth couldn’t have been beaten out of that punk…

Love your comment, Steve. That’s exactly why I found my voice. Every little girl should have a loving and present father who ‘tapes a dime in her shoe’…..protects her somehow in today’s environment. And every woman out there needs to unlearn a lifetime of being indoctrinated with being ‘a good girl ‘ and unlearn ignoring their instincts. We are taught by the world not to make a scene, cause drama, speak aggressively. We are taught by role model that frail and fainting and innocent is feminine. And even worse we are taught our value lies in what men think of us. The world around us participates in teaching us these destructive things. Are we pretty enough, sexy enough, docile enough, untouched enough to be valued by a man. These destructive things led me into the hands of a predator and kept his violation internalized where it couldn’t disgrace me. The result was an 8 year old girl who’s brutal violation and near murder still haunt my dreams. Thank you, Steve, for finally giving me a voice. Love, Morgan Rowan.

      Morgan R:
Thank you Morgan for giving such an articulate voice to what needed to be said.
Your speaking out could be the very voice that prevents some young woman from becoming another victim.
      XXOO Steve

Hi Steve, If only more people like Morgan would speak out. Her bravery brings me to tears. Somehow many of us go on & survive & sometimes thrive against such huge odds. Best wishes to you & her & the many thousands out there.

Kathy G; Yes, very brave and very articulate. Glad Alcala is GONE.
