Back from a Night of Noir as the Invited “Black Dahlia” Speaker at the Sunset Strip’s New Britely Social Club

July 28, 2021
Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip

I am just back from an evening as the guest speaker on An Evening of Noir-The Black Dahlia at the very impressive and brand new Britely Social Club on the Sunset Strip. (The new building was erected on the grounds of the old “House of Blues” property, 8430 Sunset Blvd.)

Rising phoenix-like out of the ashes of HofB comes                                                                             PENDRY West Hollywood and its Britely Social Club.

I met with members in the club’s stylish music venue where I presented a sixty-minute PowerPoint on my investigation and the solving of the 1947 Black Dahlia and related Lone Woman Murders. My talk was followed by a half-hour of stimulating Q&A from club members. (As always, my favorite part of the presentations.)

Annalise Ghiz, Britely Social Club Program Director
The evening of noir was coordinated and hosted by the beautiful and highly efficient-Annalise Ghiz, the club’s, Director of Programming.

Britely Social Club members and Steve
Following the talk the Britely Social Club invited me and my guest, David Browning, a long-time friend and recently retired journalist and writer/Senior Producer at CBS’ Sixty Minutes, to dine at the club’s spectacular rooftop restaurant, food courtesy of Wolfgang Puck.  Wonderful view and great food.

I had the curried lobster (left)  David had the octopus (right)

All in all a very enjoyable evening and I was very impressed with the brand new Britely Social Club and wish it and all its members a bon voyage as Los Angeles’ newest private members club.

Nice to be back to “normal” times again….hope it lasts! Food looks delicious 👍! As I said several years ago, you should consider our Tucson Festival of Books on our UA campus each Feb…..cool weather & Tucson offers some good dining too!! Think about it especially after publication of “The Early Years”. 😎🌵
