TROY DAVIS – Will The Lights Go Out In Georgia?

Georgia Death Row prisoner, Troy Davis

 September 20, 2011

The State of Georgia is 24 Hours away from executing a man that may well be innocent. 7 of 9 witnesses have either recanted or cast serious doubt upon their original testimony.  No physical evidence exists. News reports indicated that one of the two remaining witnesses may be the actual suspect!

The only hope to stop this killing is with the U.S. Supreme Court, and I fear they will not act. I PRAY THEY DO.

The Pope and Ex-FBI Director Sessions say The execution should not be carried out. I join with them and the millions of voices around the world to say- STOP THE EXECUTION.

I’m very sorry, Steve, but the lights went out in Georgia long ago. I hoped for a better outcome in this terrible case, but I was somehow not surprised when things played out as they did.
Not only have the lights going out in Georgia, but they are winking out one by one all over the country. Our president has not only reneged on his pledge to repeal the odious and blatantly unconstitutional USAPATRIOT Act, but has signed off on the National Defense Authorization Act, which effectively strips U.S. citizens of the last of their constitutional rights. The same U.S. Supreme Court that declared corporations to be “perons” has said nothing about the USAPATRIOT Act nor the NDAA.
I feel like this country’s days as a free country of responsible citizens are behind us. I hope I don’t live long enough to see what comes next, but history provides a lot of recent examples of countries inhabited by passive, delusional people who trashed their countries in every way- politically, culturally, and financially- for short term “feel goods”.
