DET3 RUSS KUSTER’S MURDER

HOLLYWOOD DIVISION – 7 OFFICERS REMEMBERED
In a morning service attended by LAPD brass, Mayor Villaraigosa, the slain officer’s family and friends, as well as many of their ex-partners, seven fallen officers were honored at a memorial service held in front of Hollywood Division Police Station on Saturday, October 9, 2010.

Patrolman Clyde Pritchett February 17, 1936 Shot During Family Dispute
Policeman Clay Hunt February 22, 1955 Traffic Accident
Policeman Ian Campbell March 10, 1963 Kidnapped and Executed- “Onionfield”
Policeman Robert Cote July 31, 1969 Shot During Robbery Detective Russ Kuster, Oct 9, 1990 Shot by Armed Parolee in restaurant. Police Officer Joe Rios January 20, 1993 Traffic Accident
Police Officer Charles Heim October 21, 1994 Shot By Narcotics Suspect
I attended the 20-year anniversary memorial in front of Hollywood Station and was asked to read the letter I wrote and had faxed down to the Hollywood Division officers on the morning of October 10, 1990. This same letter was read at the Hollywood Division Captain at Russ’s funeral in 1990.
