RODNEY ALCALA "THE KILLING GAME" TO PREMIERE ON CBS' 48 HOURS SAT SEPT 25TH
CBS’ ’48 HOURS MYSTERY’S Season Premiere: The Killing Game will air this coming Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010 at 10 P.M. ET/PT.
Rodney James Alcala
1978 2010
The program will summarize the crimes of serial-killer, Rodney Alcala recently convicted in Orange County for multiple murders and sentenced to death.
I was interviewed for the show related to my 1969-1971 investigation of Alcala for his attempted murder and child-molestation of an 8-year-old Hollywood victim, Tali Shapiro.
In 1971 I arrested and extradited Alcala from New Hampshire and brought him back for trial in Los Angeles. He was convicted and sent to prison, but because of the “indeterminate sentencing statutes” and a prison psychologist’s finding that “he was much improved” Alcala was released after serving less than three years.
The CBS show documents Alcala’s post release crime-spree and the serial killings he committed throughout Southern California.
We will likely never know the actual total number of crimes committed by this brutal psychopath.
