Steve- You just made my day!!
is this going to be available in bookstores or just on line? I finally found a copy of Most Evil and demolished it, then you drop this bomb on me LITERALLY two days later. Good show.
Niki- Great. Now you can start off spring with “the rest of the story.” Six-hundred pages and three hundred photos should keep you busy for a bit. Best, Steve
Kris- It will be on-line at Amazon and distributed through Ingram Book Company, so one can order it through most bookstores, but it won’t be on a broad distribution in storefronts. I also hope to get an e-book edition out soon which will lower the price for those who like to read from a Kindle or electronic reader. Best, Steve
Hi Steve,
Just ordered your new book, can’t wait to read it!! And thanks for the 30% discount.
I wonder…has anyone else noticed the similarity in the hand written, lower case letter “r” which seems to appear in all the letters? I know you’ve had experts examine those notes and letters, but I’ve noticed it from the very beginning.
Best wishes in the sale of your new book, and keep the info coming. Thanks.
Hi Christina: Yes, the lower case “r” very distinctive. Most of my father’s letters were either typed or in upper-case printing, so not much lower-case to be found. In BDA II I have a chapter on updating HW and have included all of my samples of my father’s HW. So, the new book pretty much has itall. Hope you enjoy the read. Best, Steve
Just ordered book. Can’t wait to read it. While I haven’t agreed with all your conclusions in the first two books, I found them both fascinating reads that I couldn’t put down. Eagerly anticipating the third. Have you given any thought to what you’re going to tackle next?
Kris-
As you will see in BDA II I also don’t agree with a few of my conclusions in the first two books. You obviously have an open mind and that will serve you well. Hope you enjoy the new information. What will I tackle next? Was thinking about a dozen tall Scotch and Sodas. (Joke, been “dry” for 13 years now.) Actually, looks like there is one more book to do. “The Early Years” which will document my father’s crimes pre-1940. He didn’t wake up at age 39 and decide to be a serial-killer, sooooooooo. All my best, Steve
Hi Steve,
Your new book arrived today…had to stop what I was doing and check it out. The 1st thing I read was your mother’s letters to John Huston. What a rough life she and you boys had. And how fortunate she was to have his continued support even though they were divorced. Did you have any contact with John Huston as an adult?
I can only imagine the secrets she and others in Hollywood took to their graves.
Enjoy your much deserved time off. Looking forward to reading all of this new book and your next one. Thanks.
Hi Christina:
Thanks for the kind words. Yes, as I indicate in the HUSTON LETTERS chapter my respect for John went WAY UP after reading mom’s letters to him over those difficult years. Had no idea he contributed so much and repeatedly saved us time and time again.
No, never had any contact with John after growing up. We were mostly on different continents. Hope you enjoy the rest of the read.
Ernst F. Vonharringa (sic) died in Los Angeles on September 22, 1961.

Thank you for the brilliant book! I’m looking forward to Book #4.
Karen: Thank you very much for the documentation on Baron Harringa’s death in Los Angeles. Goes to show unless one checks all the “sics” many facts are missed. I will try to post/blog your find soonest. Keep up the good work. Steve
Hi Steve, Have finished reading your new book and found it to be as compelling as your 1st two. Although it is difficult for me to understand how your father lived all those many years and “got away with it”,I’m certainly glad the facts have finally come out due to your extensive research and findings. Hopefully you and your family can find some peace in separating yourselves from his horrors. It can’t have been easy or comfortable for you to face the truth then write about it. I look forward to your next book.
Hi Christina:
Thanks for the kind words. Much appreciated.
Getting to the truth of it has been difficult, but has its own reward.
