THE SUN NEWSPAPER STEVE HODEL BLACK DAHLIA AND ZODIAC LINKS
PART II
The Sun newspaper (USA/UK) asked to interview me about my two books, Most Evil I and II, and my investigation into the “Zodiac crimes.” The Sun’s interview was motivated by the just-released Netflix series This is the Zodiac Speaking (2024), which asks the question, “Was Arthur Leigh Allen Zodiac?”
Here is a link to The Sun’s article PART II:
THE man who believes his father is the infamous Zodiac killer and Black Dahlia murderer says he has uncovered 32 “crime signatures” that prove the crimes were committed by the same person.
Happy Halloween, Steve. The Netflix Zodiac blitz seems to be falling flat — no surprises there. We went through this a few years ago with the much-ballyhooed History Channel show. The hamster wheel of junk suspects keeps spinning.

Haven’t seen it but as you say, sounds like a replay of the earlier show. Assume their adding “recovered memories” and anecdotal interviews with friends/relatives with the “Oh, yes, I remember when Arthur mentioned something about some murders he did out in East Bay etc. ad naseum. Good for another six headlines.
Hi Steve. I’m a big fan and supporter of your work, research, and theories. I’ve read various versions the early years, BDA avenger and Most evil. I’m invested in your mission and want it to be solved and recognize an emotional connection in myself to a specific outcome that proves George Hill Hodel’s guilt. Coincidentally, I live in the garvanza neighborhood of LA where he lived in his youth and sometimes wander around Monterey road to look at the tea house. At times I’ve felt a little obsessed but mostly fascinated. I grew up in the Bay Area have lived in San Francisco and Oakland and have visited many of the specific sites related to BDA & Zodiac crime scenes or Elizabeth Short’s grave in Mountain View cemetery where my step father rests as well. I just feel I have a somewhat personal connection to the cases and your work. I just finished the Netflix series on the request of some friends that found it convincing. There are some definitely compelling pieces of information that are new to me, but I’m not sold on it either. I wanted to ask why you wouldn’t watch it? I’ve asked you before what you thought of the David Finscher movie and I recall you felt it was more about the impact it had on Tosci and Greysmiths lives and I agree with that sentiment, but aren’t you curious about these other takes and theories even if you don’t agree with them? Also, any movement on the docu-series of your own?

Doug F:
Actually, I watched the first episode tonight. As a professional homicide investigator, I had some major reactions to numerous visible “no-no’s” as presented in the first hour, but will refrain from commenting on them until I view the additional two more episodes. Yes, Arthur Leigh Allen was a pedophile, for sure, but a sadistic nihilist and misogynist of the highest order, no way. But, will reserve full judgment until I see it all. As far as the “docuseries” still in pre-production Hell, but keep hearing “keep the faith, Steve” so maybe this coming year. Best, Steve
I’ll be very interested in hearing your thoughts on the rest of the Netflix series!
Hi Steve did you end up watching anymore of the Netflix series?
Doug F:
No. I know I should probably finish the next two episodes, but hard to watch, knowing “George did it.” But, will try soon. Steve
I get it! Let me know.
Best, Doug F
