Happy May Day!
LAPD Detective III’s Harry Bosch and Steve Hodel: Some Synchronicities,
or “How I Learned To Do the Boschanova”
I had some fun making this one.
This is a fifteen-minute video comparing the life of Michael Connelly’s fictional Detective III Harry Bosch with my own real-life story. Since neither Harry nor I believe in “coincidences” I’ve called these “synchronicities.” Enjoy!

Excellent commentary, Steve. Amazing similarities (synchronicities.
I, too, read Michael Connelly, having just finished my 25th: The Night Fire.

Thanks Jess. Yes, love his writing and I just finished watching Episode 6 Bosch miniseries. I think Titus Welliver has done an amazing job of capturing Connelly’s Harry Bosch. Really enjoy the shows too.
Below comment received from one of my old partner’s Lt. Max Hurlbut, from Hollywood. Thanks Max. Good to hear from you.
STEVE—-I agree with JESS WAID. (You, JESS, & I were partners in Hollywood Patrol out of the old Hollywood Station in the early-to-mid 1960s). YOU, my friend, clearly solved the “Black Dahlia” case.
At considerable personal expense—-One does not lightly accuse his father of being a serial killer. You’ll recall from our conversations over two decades past that I was fond of saying, “You, STEVE, are HARRY! MICHAEL CONNELLY must have used you as his inspiration……”

And God Bless you Steve Hodel and thanks for sharing your family including Fauna et al! Stay well
Teresa M: Thanks for the kind words, Teresa. Best to you and yours.
Life affirming synchronicities. Carl Jung wrote about those!
Interesting recap! BTW, I bing read the Bosch books starting over 20 years ago. I recall the Poet being particularly creepy. We invited MC to Beyond Baroque, too, but maybe he was too shy. I had lunch before the pandemic with one of his agents.
Saving the TV series for a binge. Glad you like it.
Marina B:
Yes, The Poet was very George Hodelish for sure. I got hooked and read them all too.
Definitely Jung at heart. Steve
