The xx- I Dare You (Official Music Video) Filmed at the Sowden/Hodel 1947 Black Dahlia Crime Scene

June 29, 2017
Los Angeles, California

The British Rock band, The xx just released and posted a new music video, “I Dare You” which they describe as their “Love Letter to Los Angeles.” Posted six hours ago on YouTube, it already shows 63,000 views.

We are so happy to share our new video for ‘I Dare You’. Our love letter to Los Angeles, a city close to our hearts, where we wrote and recorded parts of our album ‘I See You’. This is the third video, our friend, the wonderful Alasdair McLellan has directed for us. He collaborated with a hero of ours, Raf Simons on the creative concept and direction. It was amazing to work with both of them and such a pleasure to meet and work with Millie, Paris, Ashton, Lulu and Ernesto! Thank you to Calvin Klein and everyone involved. We hope you enjoy watching! xx The xx

RAF SIMONS TEAMS WITH THE XX ON NEW MUSIC VIDEO STARRING MILLIE BOBBY BROWN

Excerpt below from Hollywood Reporter article by Sam Reed

The video, unveiled Thursday, was directed and shot by McLellan at two of Los Angeles’ most iconic homes: Lloyd Wright’s Sowden House in Los Feliz, famous for its nod to Mayan architecture, and John Lautner’s Rainbow House on Mulholland Drive, which is known for its parabolic roof and stained glass.
The Sowden House, built in 1926 by the son of Frank Lloyd Wright, is an interesting pick for the upbeat tune, considering its “dark” past and reports that it housed the Black Dahlia’s killer. Steve Hodel, whose father, George Hodel, lived in the home in ’40s, alleged that his father tortured the Dahlia (Elizabeth Short) in the basement of the home. Martin Scorsese also filmed parts of his 2004 film, The Aviator, at the Sowden House.
